During a business development career which spans 28 years, Barry has been involved in the creation or enhancement of over 30 enterprises. These enterprises have been in a wide variety of industries including medical electronics, tourism, horticulture, catering and hospitality, telecommunications, financial services, building design and construction, environmental technologies and e-commerce solutions.

These successes have all involved lateral thinking and innovation. Since completion of an MEI in 1996, Barry has been instrumental in the initiation and commercialisation of DAVNET Limited, with a present market capitalisation of $850 million, and CBD Online Ltd which was listed in April 2000 with ASX market capitalisation of $25 million.

Despite a very busy career, Barry still makes ample time to spend with his family, and his other interests include music, fishing, gardening, golf, and life drawing. He is also currently undertaking a Ph.D in SGSM, entitled "The Influence of Pedagogical Techniques on developing Successful Innovations".
